# Vercel AI SDK

URL: https://docs.hanzo.ai/docs/guides/integrations/vercel-ai-sdk

> createOpenAICompatible takes baseURL. Two other providers on the same parameter reach the responses and messages shapes.

`createOpenAICompatible` takes **`baseURL`**. `name`is required beside it;`apiKey`is turned into an`Authorization: Bearer\` header before any header you pass yourself.

```bash
npm i ai @ai-sdk/openai-compatible
```

```typescript
import { createOpenAICompatible } from '@ai-sdk/openai-compatible';
import { generateText } from 'ai';
const hanzo = createOpenAICompatible({
  name: 'hanzo',
  apiKey: process.env.HANZO_API_KEY,
  baseURL: 'https://api.hanzo.ai/v1',
});
const { text } = await generateText({
  model: hanzo('zen6'),
  prompt: 'Name the three laws of thermodynamics.',
});
```

Lands on `POST /v1/chat/completions`.

Two sibling providers take the same `baseURL` and reach the other shapes: `createOpenAI` from `@ai-sdk/openai`, whose default has been Responses since AI SDK 5, lands on `POST /v1/responses`; `createAnthropic` from `@ai-sdk/anthropic` lands on `POST /v1/messages`.

## MCP

`createMCPClient` comes from `@ai-sdk/mcp` and is awaited. The URL lives on the transport, which the SDK recommends be HTTP in production.

```typescript
import { createMCPClient } from '@ai-sdk/mcp';
const mcp = await createMCPClient({
  transport: {
    type: 'http',
    url: 'https://api.hanzo.ai/v1/mcp',
    headers: { Authorization: `Bearer ${process.env.HANZO_API_KEY}` },
  },
});
const tools = await mcp.tools();
```

Hand `tools` to `generateText` or `streamText` as its `tools` argument.
