Dev on hanzo.ai

Hanzo Dev in the browser — runs, templates, projects, your own machines, and what is paid.

Open hanzo.ai and choose Dev. Describe a task: Dev runs it in a Hanzo sandbox on the codebase you pick, pushes its work to a branch and opens a pull request. Every run streams its steps as it works, and Recents lists them newest first.

A run

The composer under New run chooses where the run runs, the repository and branch it works on, the mode and the model.

ChoiceWhat it does
Where the run runsCloud is a Hanzo sandbox, set up by the codebase's environment. Your own machines are listed too; one takes a run only while a runner on it claims runs.
RepositoryA repository on the forge (git.hanzo.ai). With none chosen, the run starts a new project from the ask.
ModeBuild edits, commits and pushes a branch. Plan plans the change and writes nothing.
ModelEnso by default. Premium models come with a paid plan.

Templates

More → Templates lists working apps to start from.

  • Narrow the list by category, by stack (the framework family: Next.js, React, HTML, Expo, Tauri, three.js and more) and by searching what each says of itself.
  • Open a card to see what it is: its picture, stack, features and, where it has one, its live demo.
  • Use this template copies its repository into a new project of yours — a private repository in your organization's code workspace on git.hanzo.ai — builds it in a sandbox, and publishes it at https://<project>.hanzo.app, usually within a couple of minutes.
  • The project opens beside its preview. Ask for changes in its chat: each run works on the project's repository, and publishes what it pushes. The project's runs are listed in its chat.
  • When a build fails, the preview says why in the build's own words and offers Publish again, and Fix it with Dev, which starts a run with that reason.

Your own machines

More → Machines lists the computers linked to your organization: what each has, and whether it is online. Link one with the Hanzo CLI, on the machine:

curl -fsSL https://hanzo.sh | sh # install the Hanzo CLI
hanzo login # sign in through hanzo.id
hanzo beat # keep it listed and online (free)
hanzo link # or keep it online and share its shell
  • hanzo beat beats every 30 seconds while it runs. Run it under a service manager — a systemd user unit or a launchd agent — to keep the machine listed between sessions.
  • hanzo link also publishes a shell on the machine that only you can open. It needs ttyd and tmux on the machine (brew install ttyd tmux) and is paid from your balance.
  • Dev runs go to the Hanzo sandbox. A machine takes a Dev run only while a runner on it claims runs; Machines and the run picker say when one does.
  • A machine can also be registered by hand under Register one by hand; it reads not seen yet until it beats.

Plans and credit

  • Free has Hanzo's free models, and a daily and an hourly allowance of free sandboxes for runs and template builds.
  • Premium models come with a paid plan. The account menu's View all plans opens the plans; see pricing.
  • Sandbox time past the free allowance, and a shared shell, are paid from your organization's balance: Settings → Usage → Add credit. See credits.
  • When an action needs a plan or credit, Dev says so where it happened, with the one button that answers it: See plans or Add credit.

These docs inside Dev

More → Docs opens this page inside Dev. The search at the top of the page searches all of docs.hanzo.ai, and every page opens in place.

For Hanzo Dev in the terminal, start with installing it.
